APHC Calls for Resolution of Kashmir Dispute Based on Historical Context

Srinagar, The All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) has emphasized the importance of resolving the Kashmir issue in accordance with its historical context and the wishes of the Kashmiri populace.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, a spokesperson for the APHC, issued a statement in Srinagar highlighting that the strong-arm tactics and military policies of the BJP-led Hindutva government have failed to dampen the spirit of the Kashmiri people’s quest for freedom.

Minhas detailed how the appropriation of civilian properties, eviction of Kashmiris from their lands, and dismissal of local employees are integral to the Modi administration’s broader strategy of settler colonialism in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). He noted the regime’s policy of facilitating the influx of non-locals to settle on Kashmiri lands and occupy job vacancies, aiming to alter the demographic makeup of the territory.

Asserting that Kashmiris are inherently peace-seeking, Minhas voiced the community’s preference for a peaceful, historical, and aspiration-aligned resolution to the Kashmir dispute.

The statement also expressed deep concern over the ongoing unjust detention of Kashmiri resistance leaders, activists, and youths in various jails across India and IIOJK. Minhas called on international human rights organizations to advocate for their prompt release.

Furthermore, the APHC urged the United Nations to intervene and halt India’s attempts to emulate Israeli settler colonialism in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The organization seeks UN facilitation in resolving the Kashmir dispute in line with its established resolutions.
