APHC Condemns Indian Government’s Policies in Kashmir, Calls for International Intervention

Islamabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has strongly condemned the Indian government’s attempts to alter the demographic and cultural landscape of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), calling for international action against these measures.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement issued in Srinagar, asserted that the Kashmiri people reject the changes enforced by the BJP-led government since August 5, 2019. He accused the Indian government of using tactics reminiscent of Israeli policies to suppress the Kashmiri movement for self-determination, including property seizures, suspension of government services, and the settlement of non-locals to shift the region’s demographic balance.

Minhas highlighted that the Indian government’s strategies are aimed at diminishing the Muslim identity of Kashmir and disenfranchising the local population. He also denounced the application of harsh laws like the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for political suppression.

The APHC has called on the global community to recognize and respond to what it describes as India’s egregious actions in Kashmir, urging international bodies to pressure India to uphold Kashmiris’ rights and implement United Nations resolutions concerning the region.
