Arrest of Hurriyet leaders in IOK condemned

Srinagar, February 08, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party has condemned the arrest of its Chairman, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, and other Hurriyet leaders including Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Shabbir Ahmad Dar and human rights activist, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo. The party spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the arrest spree was extremely shameful on part of the puppet administration of the territory.

He said that by through such tactics the puppet authorities would not succeed in their efforts to suppress the Kashmiris’ ongoing freedom struggle. “Rather such actions renew our freedom spirit and give strength to our liberation movement,” he maintained.

The spokesperson also denounced the raids on party’s office in Sanat Nagar area of Srinagar and also the arrest of hundreds of Hurriyet activists during the past few days.

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement has also denounced the arrest of its Chairman, Zafar Akbar Butt, and other party leaders and activists including Imtiyaz Ahmed, Nazir Ahmed, Muhammad Shafi, Shabbir Ahmed, Muzaffar Ahmed, Meraj-ud-Din, Sarir Ahmed and Aadil Ahmed.

The JKSM spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that arrest and other repressive measures could not suppress the Kashmiris’ liberation sentiment and they would continue their struggle till complete success. He also denounced the molestation of a lady doctor by a puppet minister.
