Assam Flood Crisis Escalates: Eight New Fatalities Reported

Dispur: The flood crisis in Assam has intensified with eight deaths reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the total fatalities this year to 46 as the region struggles with ongoing severe flooding.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the floods have impacted approximately 16.25 lakh people across 2,800 villages in 29 districts. Nagaon, Darrang in Central Assam, and Karimganj in the Barak Valley are among the hardest hit areas. The Sonitpur district reported two deaths, while the districts of Morigaon, Dibrugarh, Darrang, Golaghat, Biswanath, and Tinsukia each reported one.

The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) notes that 2,800 villages remain affected, with 105 revenue circles currently underwater, indicating the widespread nature of this disaster.
