Authorities order closure of educational institutions in valley

Srinagar, May 15, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the authorities have ordered closure of educational institutions in various parts of the Kashmir valley, today, to prevent students’ protests against the rape of a three-year-old girl in Sumbal area of Bandipora district.

An official order said class work shall remain suspended in Srinagar’s SP Higher Secondary School, Islamia Higher Secondary School, MPML Higher Secondary School, Amar Singh College, SP College, Gandhi Memorial College, Islamia College, Degree College Bemina, Women’s College MA Road and Women’s College Nawakadal, today.

The class work shall also remain suspended in colleges and Higher Secondary Schools in Ganderbal, Pattan, Singpora, Sonawari, Sopore, Baramulla, Kupwara, Handwara, Pulwama, Pampore, Tral, Kakapora, Islamabad and Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) Awantipora, the order said.

Massive demonstrations had rocked the educational institutions across the Kashmir valley, yesterday, with protesting students demanding justice for the victim minor girl. Meanwhile, the occupation authorities have imposed curfew-like restrictions in Magam and Badgam towns to prevent protests against the rape of the minor girl. Complete shutdown is also being observed in the two towns on the fourth consecutive day, today. Internet service continues to remain suspended for the fourth consecutive day, today, in Badgam district. On the other hand, Indian police arrested over two dozen youth in Pattan area of Baramulla district.
