Balochistan Agriculture Minister Emphasizes Sector Development and Modernization

Quetta, The Provincial Minister of Agriculture, Mir Ali Madd Jatak, highlighted the importance of the agriculture sector, noting that 70% of the population relies on it for employment. During a departmental briefing in Quetta, the minister received a comprehensive update from the Secretary of Agriculture, Sohailur Rehman Baloch. Special Secretary Agriculture Qadir Baloch, Additional Secretary Agriculture Arif Tareen, Director General Agriculture Extension Masood Baloch, and DG Agricultural Engineering Agha Ali Raza also attended the meeting.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the minister expressed the provincial government’s commitment to developing the agriculture sector along modern lines. He outlined that by focusing on agriculture, the region could achieve self-sufficiency in grain production and potentially earn significant foreign exchange through exports.

Minister Jatak emphasized that a dedicated and sincere approach to duty is crucial for the success of agricultural projects. He pointed out that the rotation of officers within the department is a regular practice, and that addressing issues faced by landowners requires an effective strategy. The minister noted that adopting modern agricultural methods and completing projects on time and with quality were key to achieving this goal.

Jatak reiterated that the Balochistan government’s approach to agriculture aligns with the vision of the Chief Minister, emphasizing that all resources will be used to advance the sector. He called on officers to work diligently, stressing that agriculture’s success is fundamental to the region’s economic stability.

The minister urged the department to work toward the welfare and development of landowners by introducing them to modern agricultural techniques. He also underscored the importance of completing all projects within the stipulated timeframe and the set quality standards.
