Boat Capsizing in Jhelum River Kills Four School Children in Srinagar

Srinagar, A tragic incident occurred Tuesday morning when a boat carrying school children capsized in the Jhelum River in Srinagar, resulting in the deaths of four individuals. Three others have been rescued and are currently receiving medical treatment.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the boat capsized near the Batwara area while transporting the children. Following the incident, the BJP-appointed administration in Srinagar initiated rescue operations near Ganderbal, close to the accident site. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) was deployed promptly to search for any other missing individuals.

The three survivors of the mishap were taken to SMHS hospital in Srinagar, where they are undergoing treatment. It has been reported that recent incessant rains had caused the water levels in the Jhelum and other local water bodies to rise, potentially contributing to the hazardous conditions that led to the capsizing.

Further details on the incident are pending as rescue and recovery efforts continue.
