British and Pakistani Officials Discuss Enhanced IT and Telecom Cooperation

Islamabad: Ms. Jane Marriott, the British High Commissioner to Pakistan, met with Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja to discuss expanding cooperation in IT, digitalization, and cybersecurity.

According to Press Information Department, the meeting focused on mutual interests in the IT and telecom sectors, with both parties agreeing to bolster collaborative efforts. Minister Khawaja briefed the High Commissioner on the Smart Islamabad project and detailed the government’s initiatives towards digitalization, including efforts to empower women and reduce the digital gender divide in Pakistan.

Ms. Marriott expressed the UK’s interest in strengthening ties with Pakistan in IT and telecommunications. The meeting, which also included Director General International Coordination Syed Jawwad Ali Sherazi, underscored the commitment of both nations to enhance their partnership in these critical areas.
