Building Collapse in Surat Injures 15, Several Trapped Amid Rescue Efforts

Surat, A six-storey building in Sachin Pali village of Surat, Gujarat, collapsed following days of incessant rains, injuring fifteen people while leaving several others trapped under the debris.

According to Kashmir Media Service, an official reported that rescue operations were actively ongoing, with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), along with local police and fire department personnel, responding to the emergency. So far, one woman has been rescued from the rubble.

A fire department official expressed concerns over the building’s condition, noting that it required repairs that were neglected. “This building needed repair but no one paid attention to it, which will be investigated. As of now, our focus is to rescue the people,” he stated. The exact number of those trapped remains uncertain, as many laborers who worked night shifts were reportedly sleeping in the building when it collapsed.
