Campus violence in Patna leads to student’s death, sparking protests

Patna, A college student was fatally beaten by masked assailants on his way to an examination in Patna, triggering widespread protests against campus violence. The 22-year-old victim, identified as Harsh Raj, was assaulted with sticks and bricks by a group of 10-15 individuals.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Harsh Raj, a third-year Vocational English student at BN College, was attacked near Sultanganj Law College, where he was scheduled to take an exam. The City SP (East), Bharat Soni, reported that after the assault, Raj was taken to the PMCH emergency ward by friends but later died from his injuries. Chandan Kumar, another student from Patna College, has been arrested in connection with Raj’s death. Kumar allegedly admitted that the murder stemmed from a previous conflict between two student groups at a college event last August.

The incident has caused a major uproar, with students and local community members demanding action to prevent further violence on campus. Harsh’s father suggested that his son’s involvement in upcoming student union elections and a prior altercation at a college event could have motivated the attack.
