Chairman NAB took notice for non-submission of copies of contracts of Rs. 50 million or above to NAB as per law from some Public Sector Departments for scrutiny

Islamabad, March 09, 2018 (PPI-OT): Honourable Justice Mr. Javed Iqbal, Chairman NAB chaired a high level meeting at nab Headquarters and reviewed overall progress since he took over the responsibilities of Chairman NAB on Oct 11, 2017. The chairman expressed his satisfaction over the performance of NAB and directed Operations and Prosecution Divisions to make all out efforts conclude all ongoing complaint verifications, inquiries and investigations within the prescribed time frame after collecting concrete and solid evidence as per law.

He said the policy of “Accountability for All’ is being followed in letter and spirit across the board and now accountability is seen to be done. The corrupt are being dealt with iron hands as eradication of corruption from the country is the top priority of NAB. He directed NAB officers to perform their duties in accordance with law without caring about the position and status of the accused.

The Chairman NAB took strict notice that some Public Sector Departments, are not submitting the copies of contracts of Rs. 50 million or above to NAB as per law for scrutiny and review. As per law, all public sector departments are duty bound to submit the copies of contracts of Rs. 50 million or above to NAB including details of procurements and tendering process so that NAB may review and securitize the transparency in the execution of the projects under its prevention regime as per NAO, 1999.

Chairman NAB has directed all DGs of NAB to ensure submission of copies of all contracts of Rs. 50 million or above from public sector departments comes under their areas of jurisdiction to NAB as per law. Strict action would be taken against the failure officers as per law.
