Chairman Senate calls on Prime Minister

Islamabad, June 25, 2013 (PPI-OT): Chairman Senate, Syed Nayyar Hussein Bhukhari, called on Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif at the Prime Minister’s Office this morning.

During his first meeting with the Prime Minister after his assumption of office as the Chief Executive of the country, the Chairman Senate congratulated him and assured his full cooperation and support.

While talking to the Chairman Senate, the Prime Minister said that democratic institutions of the country should play their positive and constructive role for the strengthening of democratic norms and values.

The Prime Minister said that Pakistan was faced with a number of challenges both at internal and external fronts and further added that the need of the hour was that political forces of all hues must forge unity amongst their ranks to find an everlasting and durable solution to these problems.

Impressing upon the need to reinvigorate the Senate of Pakistan, the Prime Minister said that it has a very important role in legislative business and in ensuring transparency and accountability amongst government institutions and bodies.
