Islamabad: Reference news item appeared in a section of press regarding payment of outstanding advertisement dues of advertising agencies against Federal ministries / divisions / corporations / autonomous bodies.

The Spokesman of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has clarified that it is on the longstanding demand of the All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS), the Ministry proceeded to settle this festering issue which has been pending for the last many years. In this regard a delegation of the APNS met with the Prime Minister in January, 2011 and vigorously demanded that the issue of outstanding bills of newspapers / advertising agencies for the period July 2, 2000 to June 30, 2008 may be cleared at the earliest. It is in this context that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in consultation with the APNS, adopted a procedure to clear the outstanding advertisement dues through the Office of the Accountant General Pakistan Revenues (AGPR). The policy of the government is to facilitate media and to pay outstanding dues to the newspapers and the advertising agencies.
