Concern raised over disappearance of detained leader

Srinagar, May 11, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has expressed serious concern over the custodial disappearance of illegally detained Hurriyet leader, Mir Hafeezullah, from Hira Nagar jail in Jammu.

He urged Amnesty International and other humanitarian organizations to take cognizance of the matter and ascertain the reality about his whereabouts. He also demanded shifting of unlawfully detained Hurriyet leaders including Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Mushtaq-ul-Islam and Mir Hafeezullah to the Valley jails from Jammu region.

He also announced different programmes to be held in connection with the Martyrdom Week to be observed from May 16 to mark the martyrdom anniversaries of prominent martyred liberations leaders, Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq and Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone. These programmes include Quran Khawani, seminars and rallies besides complete shutdown and a march towards Eidgah in Srinagar on May 21.

APHC leaders, Yasmeen Raja, Ghulam Ahmed Mir and the spokesman of Jamaat-e-Islami of occupied Kashmir in their statements expressed grief over the death of Pakistani prisoner, Sanaullah, due to attack on him in Jammu’s Kot Bhalwal jail. They demanded registering of a murder case against the jail superintendent, Ragni Sehgal.
