Death Toll Climbs to Four in Uttar Pradesh Train Derailment, 32 Injured

Lucknow: In a recent train accident, the death toll has risen to four, with 32 others injured following the derailment of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh.

According to Kashmir Media Service announcement issued on 19 July 2024, the incident involved the derailment of eight coaches on the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express. This occurred between the Motiganj and Jhilahi railway stations, approximately 150 kilometers from Lucknow, on the Gonda-Gorakhpur section of the Northeast Railway this past Thursday afternoon.

District Magistrate Neha Sharma of Gonda reported, “So far, four passengers have died and 32 are injured. Of the injured passengers, the condition of around half a dozen is critical.” She also noted that two of the critically injured passengers are currently receiving care at a trauma center in Lucknow.
