Delegation of Abbottabad District Bar Association calls on Honourable Chief Justice of Pakistan

Islamabad: “The legal fraternity is an important segment of society as well as judicial system of country. Their significance cannot be denied as without their assistance and active participation, the goal of speedy justice to litigants at their door steps cannot be fulfilled” said the Honourable Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry while addressing the delegation of Abbottabad District Bar Association headed by its President Mr. Tahir Faraz Abbasi and comprising other more than twenty Executive members and office bearers who called on his lordship today (13.07.2011) in the Supreme Court Building, Islamabad.

Appreciating the efforts and struggle of Abbottabad Bar during Lawyers Movement his Lordship said that the Bar struggled hard to support the Judiciary for rule of law and supremacy of the Constitution. Due to the struggle of lawyers’ fraternity the independent judiciary was restored and this struggle is unprecedented in the judicial history of the world. The Abbottabad bar is experienced, organized and civilized bar which played active role.

Commenting on the National Judicial Policy his Lordship said that the purpose of the policy is to provide expeditious and inexpensive justice to litigants and to train youngster in the field of law by appointing them local commissioners to record the evidence in the cases. Due to the judicial policy the work load on lawyers as well as on judicial officers has increased but they both have left no stone unturned to achieve the goal. The trust of public at large in judiciary has increased and now we will have to further work hard to cater for the legal needs of litigants by providing them justice at their door steps.

Moreover, his lordship also suggested the senior members of the bar to facilitate and encourage young lawyers in the field by providing opportunities to them. He further added that different training programs regarding the law, usage of information technology and other related fields may be organized for the young lawyers by the bars to train them in the field so that they can serve their country better in future.

The members of the Abbottabad Bar thanked the Chief Justice of Pakistan for spending time for them and praised his lordship’s commitment and determination for the cause of dispensation of justice, rule of law and supremacy of Constitution. They prayed for long and healthy life of his lordship and invited to visit the Abbottabad Bar. The Honourable Chief Justice of Pakistan thanked, extended his gratitude to them and assured them to visit the bar soon.
