Islamabad: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Syed Ali Raza led a briefing today for the Islamabad Traffic Police, focusing on stringent enforcement of traffic regulations to enhance road safety and ensure smooth traffic flow across the capital city.
According to Islamabad Capital Police, DIG Raza reviewed the current strategies of the Traffic Police designed to facilitate citizens and prevent road accidents. He emphasized the need for non-discriminatory enforcement against drivers who violate traffic rules, such as the use of fancy or non-standard number plates.
The meeting, attended by Chief Traffic Officer Muhammad Sarfraz Virk and other key personnel, also addressed the significant decrease in traffic accidents attributed to the strict adherence to the laws. DIG Raza praised the dedication of the traffic officers and personnel, acknowledging their efforts in maintaining order despite challenging weather conditions.
Further, DIG Raza highlighted that the Islamabad Traffic Police is regarded as a model unit nationwide and called for continued improvements in their operations. This includes ensuring courteous interactions with citizens and removing any obstructions that hinder traffic flow during peak hours.
Actions against specific violations like tinted vehicle windows, illegal parking, and non-compliant number plates were also discussed as priorities. The briefing aimed to review the facilities provided to the citizens and to boost the morale of the traffic police force.
