Karachi: Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan has directed the DCO Karachi and the town administrators to take all preventive measures against dengue virus and utilize all the available resources for conducting fumigation in this regard.

He issued this directive while presiding a high-level meeting at the Governor House on Friday, which was attended by DCO Karachi Muhammad Hussain Syed, MD KWSB Misbah Farid uddin and town administrators.

The DCO and the KWSB MD apprised the governor that all preventive measures were being taken and fumigation was being conducted at all the major nullahs in the city.

The governor was told that the town administrators have been directed to keep their staff on high alert and no emergency staff be allowed to take leave as post-rain emergency has been declared in the city.

The DCO said that some complaints about non-fumigation were being rectified, while Misbah apprised the governor that the overflowing of nullahs was creating hurdles in fumigation.

The governor took serious notice of several complaints of negligence by the staff at hospitals in connection with dengue tests.

He directed that dengue tests be carried out at all major hospitals and doctors should remain on duty with the staff for conducting these tests.
