Dr Rajive Shah discusses Finance economic issues with Hafeez

Islamabad: Dr. Rajive Shah, Administrator-USAID called on Federal Minister for Finance and Economic Affairs Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh in his office today and discussed different matters pertaining to US Aid in Pakistan. Dr Rajiv Shah gave comments on their priory areas for funding, achievements and expectations through USAID in Pakistan. He mentioned that the key focused areas are energy, agriculture, education and health.

In this regard, Secretary Finance, Secretary Economic Affairs Division and Deputy Chairman Planning Commission shared their point of view in the meeting. Secretary EAD remarked that we are steadily moving forward and we have identified, what we need and what USAID can provide to us. In the same way, Secretary Finance gave an overview about the national economy. He discussed the macroeconomic indicators, potential and challenges to the national economy.

Rajiv Shah specifically highlighted the importance of institutional stability and need of public private partnership in agriculture sector of Pakistan. He mentioned that they have categorized the plans on long, medium and short term basis. The long term plans include the focusing on institutional stability, while medium term plans include support to social sector.
