Islamabad, April 23, 2015 (PPI-OT): The special committee constituted by the Finance Minister in January to review matters relating to EOBI presented its report at a meeting here Thursday morning. The Committee was headed by Deputy Governor, State Bank of Pakistan.
The Finance Minister, Ishaq Dar appreciated the proposals put forth by the Committee and said the federal government wished to transform EOBI into a truly professional institution which could serve the interest of a large number of employees of various concerns throughout the country.
He added that the future course of action about any reformatory measures in EOBI could only be taken after decision by the apex court. The decision, he said would explain the status of EOBI vis a vis provincial and federal governments. The Government, he added would accord all due attention to this institution and for interim relief, take measures on compassionate grounds for the benefit of thousands of employees.
