Experts Call on UN to Recognize India as Destabilizing Force in South Asia

Srinagar, Political experts and analysts in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir are urging the United Nations to recognize India as a primary disruptor of peace in South Asia, pointing to policies pursued since its independence in 1947, which they claim exacerbate regional tensions.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the experts voiced concerns that the BJP-led government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, since 2014, has significantly intensified threats to regional peace. They criticized India’s actions on August 5, 2019, involving Jammu and Kashmir as particularly indicative of its disregard for regional stability. The experts accused prominent Indian leaders of making inflammatory remarks that fuel tension and suppress the rights of the Kashmiri people.

These analysts also highlighted historical grievances, including India’s military action in October 1947 in Kashmir and its persistent blocking of a UN-mandated plebiscite, as examples of long-term obstacles to peace. They condemned ongoing Indian policies, which they described as state terrorism against Kashmiri self-determination efforts, and warned that India’s aggressive stance threatens the broader South Asian region.

The group concluded by calling on the international community to acknowledge India’s role in undermining regional stability and to take steps to address its hegemonic behavior to foster lasting peace in South Asia.
