Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi Orders Crackdown on Overbilling in Lahore

Lahore, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has taken decisive action in response to a surge in complaints regarding the overbilling of protected consumers, directing legal measures against the officers and staff implicated in these practices.

According to Press Information Department, Minister Naqvi has instructed all directors of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to urgently rectify the injustices reported by consumers who use up to 200 units of electricity. He emphasized the prohibition of misclassifying protected consumers as non-protected, labeling such actions as criminal offenses that will be met with stern consequences.

Naqvi ordered the FIA to conduct a thorough review of the situation and to pursue legal actions against those found responsible, ensuring no discrimination in the enforcement of these measures. He highlighted the significant financial strain that overbilling has imposed on consumers, particularly affecting those who are already facing economic challenges. The minister stressed that the complaints of overbilling and the resulting financial burden on protected consumers must be addressed immediately.
