President Zardari Urges National Unity and Interfaith Harmony on New Islamic Year

Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has called on the nation to embrace qualities such as affection, forbearance, and tolerance to foster national unity and interfaith harmony, marking the advent of the new Islamic year 1446 Hijrah.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in his message celebrating the new Islamic year, President Zardari extended his best wishes to the nation and prayed for Pakistan’s peace, stability, progress, and prosperity. He emphasized the special significance of Muharram-ul-Haram in Islamic history, noting that it is a time for intensified prayer and devotion.

President Zardari highlighted the importance of Muharram as a period of reflection on Islamic teachings and a reminder of the sacrifices made by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions, who are revered for their steadfast opposition to tyranny and oppression. He stressed that the lessons of Imam Hussain’s life encourage the faithful to stand against cruelty and evil, uphold righteousness, and endure life’s challenges with courage.

The President further remarked that the new Islamic month offers an opportunity to realign lives with Islamic teachings, discerning between virtue and vice, and enhancing understanding of Islamic principles among the populace.
