Islamabad: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, held a productive meeting today with a delegation from the Pakistan Tax Bar Association (PTBA), discussing initiatives to expand and optimize Pakistan’s tax system.
According to Ministry of Finance announcement issued on 05 July 2024, the delegation, led by PTBA President Anwar Kashif Mumtaz and including Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Malik Amjed Zubair Tiwana, commended the government’s efforts to widen the tax base and shared insights on enhancing the tax documentation process for better efficiency.
Senator Aurangzeb appreciated the feedback and highlighted the government’s drive towards digitalization in tax administration, aiming to reduce manual interventions and promote transparency. He emphasized the IT sector’s crucial role in economic growth and invited the PTBA to assist the FBR by providing essential data to further improve and strengthen the national tax system.
The meeting ended with both parties affirming a commitment to continue their collaboration and dialogue to achieve improved fiscal efficiency and support Pakistan’s economic development.
