Finance Minister meets All Pakistan Newspapers Society, Pakistan Broadcasters Association delegation

Islamabad, May 29, 2016 (PPI-OT): Finance Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar here on Sunday held a meeting with delegation comprising senior representatives of All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) and Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA) comprising among others, Mr. Sarmad Ali, Mr. Mujeeb ur Rehman Shami, Ms Rameeza Majeed Nizami, Mr. Zia Shahid, Mr. Arshad Zuberi, Mian Aamir Mehmood, Mr. Mehtab Khan, Mir Ibrahim Rahman, Mr. Basit Sheikh and Mr. Umar Shami.

The delegation apprised the Minister about the issues faced by print and electronic media and also briefed him about their budget proposals. The Minister said that media has an important role to play in both informing and educating people. He said the present government has taken measures aimed at providing an enabling environment to media in undertaking its professional obligations and wishes is to further expand and prosper. The Minister added that all possible facilitation would be accorded to print and electronic media in the upcoming budget in the light of the proposals put forth by the delegation.

The delegation thanked the Minister for the meeting and assured support in terms of projecting Government’s efforts aimed at economic development of the country. Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Revenue, Haroon Akhtar Khan, Chairman FBR, Nisar Mohammad Khan, senior officials of the Ministry of Finance and FBR were present in the meeting.
