Azerbaijan Ambassador Meets with Prime Minister to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

Islamabad, Amb. Khazar Farhadov, the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan, met with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif today, discussing various aspects of strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. The meeting focused on enhancing trade, investment, energy cooperation, defense, connectivity, education, and cultural exchanges.

According to Press Information Department, Prime Minister Sharif expressed the importance Pakistan places on its relationship with Azerbaijan, reflecting on his recent visit to Baku and his conversations with Azerbaijani leaders. He extended an invitation to President Ilham Aliyev to visit Pakistan and congratulated Azerbaijan on being selected to host the COP 29 Summit in 2024.

The discussions also touched on the recent developments in travel connections, with new flights between Baku and Karachi complementing existing routes. The Ambassador briefed the Prime Minister on Azerbaijan’s institutional mechanisms and the expected visit of the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister to Pakistan later this month. The Prime Minister proposed exploring a sister city agreement between Islamabad and Baku to further cultural and educational ties.
