Fourth Offshore Patrol Vessel PNS Yamama Arrives in Karachi

Karachi: The Pakistan Navy’s latest addition, the Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) PNS Yamama, arrived in Karachi, marking a significant enhancement to the country’s maritime capabilities. An official reception ceremony was held at the Pakistan Navy Dockyard, with Rear Admiral Abdul Munib, Commander Pakistan Fleet, presiding as the chief guest.

According to a statement by Pakistan Navy, the induction of PNS Yamama will bolster the navy’s ability to safeguard Pakistan’s maritime frontiers. Rear Admiral Munib emphasized the importance of such state-of-the-art vessels in supporting ongoing maritime security patrols in the Indian Ocean.

The PNS Yamama, constructed at DAMEN Shipyards in Galati, Romania, is a versatile medium-sized vessel equipped with advanced electronic warfare, anti-ship, and anti-air capabilities. The vessel can operate independently or as part of a task force and is capable of embarking a multirole helicopter for extended missions.

The ceremony was well-attended, with numerous Pakistan Navy officers and personnel present to welcome the fourth OPV of Batch II into active service.
