Ghanaian Vice Consul General Discusses Trade Opportunities with Punjab Officials

Lahore, In a move to bolster bilateral trade, Omar Shahid Butt, the Vice Consul General of Ghana, met with Chaudhry Shafay Hussain, Punjab’s Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce, at the Punjab Investment Board’s committee room. The meeting focused on exploring avenues for increased trade and investment between Ghana and Pakistan.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the discussions underscored the potential for foreign direct investment in Punjab and the opportunities for Ghanaian investors in the province’s industrial sectors. CEO of Punjab Investment Board, Jalal Hassan, who was also present, participated in the dialogue about enhancing trade cooperation.

Minister Hussain emphasized the importance of fostering strong bilateral relations to boost trade volumes, noting the significant incentives Punjab offers to investors, particularly in its industrial estates and the upcoming garment city spanning 2,000 acres. He proposed the exchange of trade delegations and greater collaboration between the Chambers of Industries and Commerce of both regions as key strategies to advance mutual trade interests.

Vice Consul General Butt highlighted the potential for Pakistani textile exports to Ghana and suggested that both regions could also find collaborative opportunities in the mining and farming sectors. These discussions mark a step forward in strengthening economic ties between Punjab and Ghana, with practical steps anticipated to increase bilateral trade.
