Gilani condemns reign of terror by Indian troops and police in IHK

Srinagar, March 10, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, has condemned the reign of terror unleashed by Indian troops and police across the Valley to suppress the protests against the hanging of Muhammad Afzal Guru.

Syed Ali Gilani, who is under house arrest in Srinagar, in a media interview said that hundreds of youngsters had been detained across the Valley and police were extorting money from their parents in lieu of releasing them.

“New Delhi is using its all military might to crush the just struggle of Kashmiris but they should keep in mind that these brute tactics have failed in the past and will also meet the same fate in future,” he said.

The veteran leader praised the youth for their unflinching resolve and determination towards the ongoing struggle. “Due to their sacrifices world has realized importance of the Kashmir dispute,” he added.

Syed Ali Gilani asked the youth to maintain discipline during the ongoing movement for return of the body of Muhammad Afzal Guru. “I urge the youth to follow the programmes of pro-freedom leadership in letter and spirit. Discipline is must for the success of ongoing movement and our youngsters should facilitate the passage of ambulances and doctors during curfew,” he stated.
