Government Committed to Pakistan’s Progress, Says Information Minister

Islamabad, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has highlighted the government’s relentless efforts toward the progress and development of Pakistan, amidst economic challenges. In a news conference held in Lahore, Tarar elaborated on the daily meetings convened by the Prime Minister to address these issues, including the privatization of loss-making public sector entities and the crucial restructuring of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to expand the tax base.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Information Minister also applauded the recent commendation by international economic journals of the appointment of Muhammad Aurangzeb as the new Finance Minister. Addressing social media’s role in political discourse, Tarar called for a consensus among political parties on a code of ethics for social media to ensure responsible use and safeguard against harmful content.

Emphasizing the sacrosanct nature of the sacrifices made by martyrs for national security, Tarar announced stringent measures against those using social media to insult or ridicule these heroes. The government, he said, is prepared to take strict legal action against individuals who disparage the memory and sacrifices of the martyrs, asserting that while political criticism is permissible, disrespecting those who have laid down their lives for the country is utterly unacceptable.
