Islamabad: Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has announced that a constituency-level development data directory will be published to provide insights into development indicators. Addressing the Pakistan Governance Forum in Islamabad, he stated that the Ministry of Planning and Development has largely completed its work on this initiative. He noted that the directory is expected to foster positive competition among public representatives in the development sector.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister for Planning also highlighted the necessity of an empowered local government system to enhance the governance framework. In his address to the forum, Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, underscored the importance of an inclusive global digital architecture. He emphasized that Artificial Intelligence (AI) should be accessible to all, rather than a select few, and advocated for developing countries to have a say in shaping global norms.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq also stated that Parliament must enhance its capacity to legislate on critical issues such as data protection, digital rights, and responsible innovation. He further emphasized the importance of diversifying partnerships, bolstering regional connectivity, promoting multilateralism, and investing in human capital.
Later, speaking to the media, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq reiterated the responsibility to improve governance from the grassroots to the top. He stressed the need for enhancing the functionality of institutions to strengthen the overall governance system.
