Mississauga: The City Council of Mississauga in the Greater Toronto Area organized the ‘Haroon Khan Trail Dedication Ceremony’ at Tillsdown Park in Canada. The event was held to commemorate the lifelong services of Pakistani-Canadian social worker and senior citizen Haroon Khan through the unveiling of the ‘Haroon Khan Trail’ signage.
According to Radio Pakistan, the ceremony was attended by Members of Parliament Iqra Khalid, Rechie Valdez, and Peter Fonseca, along with Member of Provincial Parliament Nina Tangri. Also present were Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Canada Muhammad Saleem, Consul General Khalil Ahmed Bajwa, the Mayor of Mississauga, city councillors, and members of the community.
Speaking on the occasion, High Commissioner Muhammad Saleem expressed gratitude to the local authorities for acknowledging Haroon Khan’s contributions to social work and humanitarian causes across Canada, Pakistan, and other regions. He highlighted that the gesture reflects the positive role and contributions of the Pakistani-Canadian community and encouraged the diaspora to continue Haroon Khan’s legacy of civic service to further enhance Pakistan-Canada relations.
