Heavy Monsoon Rains Expected Across Pakistan from August 9-12

Islamabad: The National Weather Forecasting Centre has predicted an intensified monsoon spell across Pakistan from August 9 to August 12. The weather system, driven by strong currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal, will affect various regions with heavy rainfall and possible severe weather events.

According to National Weather Forecasting Centre – Islamabad, the incoming monsoon is expected to impact multiple areas with heavy to isolated heavy rainfall. Regions such as Kashmir, Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Sindh, and Gilgit-Baltistan will experience varied intensities of rain accompanied by wind and thunderstorms. The forecast has raised concerns about potential flash flooding in local streams and urban flooding in low-lying areas of major cities including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Peshawar.

The expected heavy rainfall could also trigger landslides in hilly areas and disrupt daily activities, with possible damage to weak structures and disruption of electrical services. Authorities have been advised to stay alert, and the public is urged to follow safety guidelines, particularly in vulnerable areas. The weather event is also expected to impact agricultural activities and travel plans, with advisories in place for farmers and tourists to plan accordingly.
