HEC Collaborates with Canadian Delegation to Enhance Credentialing for Pakistani Nurses

Islamabad: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan hosted a delegation from the National Nursing Assessment Service (NNAS) and the Pakistan Nursing and Midwifery Council (PNMC) to discuss the enhancement of credentialing processes for Pakistani nurses seeking licensure in Canada. The meeting aimed to align Pakistani nursing education standards with international norms to facilitate the credential evaluation process.

According to Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, the NNAS delegation visited Pakistan to review and assess the nursing educational standards, including curriculum, teaching, and delivery at nursing schools, as well as the function of regulatory bodies. The visit is part of an effort to shorten the credentialing process for Pakistani nurses applying to work in Canada. The delegation included representatives from the Canadian High Commission and was welcomed by key figures from HEC, including Executive Director Dr. Zia Ul-Qayyum and Director General Dr. Amjad Hussain.

The discussions focused on bridging curriculum gaps and enhancing structural frameworks within Pakistani nursing education to meet global standards. HEC reaffirmed its commitment to supporting these international collaborations, highlighting recent policy initiatives aimed at improving the quality and international compatibility of higher education in Pakistan, especially in the nursing sector.
