Hepatitis centres to be established in OPDS: Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar

Karachi, July 19, 2016 (PPI-OT): Provincial Minister for Health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that hepatitis centres will be established in OPDs of all government hospitals so that the visiting patients may be screened. This he said while presiding over a meeting in his office on Tuesday. Hepatitis Control Program Sindh Dr. Khalique Shaikh and MS Civil Hospital Sukkur Dr. Abu Bakar Shaikh also attended the meeting.

Dr . Khalique Shaikh, while briefing the meeting, told that during the current month 3248 new patients of hepatitis were registered and as many 25574 were under treatment while so far as many 186331 patients of hepatitis had completed their treatment. The Health Minister added, ‘ It should be ensured that hepatitis vaccination process must be completed. Parents, teachers and all other stakeholders should be taken on board to create awareness on this fatal disease ‘.

The Health Minister Jam Mehtab directed program manager to complete vaccination of children in government schools and whatsapp all details of school name, headmaster name and Cell No. on daily basis so that the performance of vaccinators could be verified.

Meanwhile the Health Minister has ordered to dismiss five long absent doctors namely Ram Dayal, Muhammad Jamil, Shoaib Khan, Wishal Sunder and Syed Wajahat Hussain while two long absent doctors Syed Ahmed Ali and Ameet Kumar have been issued final show cause notices and if they fail to comply with the order, they will be removed from their services.
