Hindutva Groups Protest at Madhya Pradesh School Over English Usage

Bhopal: Tensions flared at a school in Madhya Pradesh as members of Hindutva groups, including the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), protested a rule they perceived as undermining the Hindi language in favor of English.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the protest escalated when demonstrators attempted to forcefully enter the school by opening doors and climbing walls. They were reacting to a misunderstanding of a new rule promoting the use of English, which they believed banned Hindi.

The police responded by booking the school’s principal, Sister Catherine, who has since issued a clarification and apology over the incident. Despite this, the protestors have called for her removal and demanded the school include a daily recitation of a shloka in its assembly prayers.
