Lahore, Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar led a meeting to discuss the “Tahafuz Manzil” project, a pilot program providing shelter and protection to children who ran away from home and homeless women. The meeting reviewed the project’s success in Lahore and outlined plans to expand it to other major cities in Punjab.
According to Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar announced that the “Tahafuz Manzil” project would be extended to Multan, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Gujranwala to offer support to more homeless children and women facing social problems. The project aims to address the needs of those in vulnerable situations, offering them a safe place and resources to help rebuild their lives.
Dr. Usman Anwar stated that the Chief Police Officers (CPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) of the respective districts would oversee the “Tahafuz Manzil” project, ensuring its smooth implementation and success. The Lahore “Tahafuz Manzil” has been praised for its work with orphans and destitute children and women, serving as a model for the project’s expansion.
The meeting was attended by several senior officers, including Additional IG Operations Shahzada Sultan, DIG Headquarters Humayun Bashir Tarar, Commandant PC Chung Mehboob Aslam Lilla, AIG Operations Punjab Dr. Asad Ejaz Malhi, CTO Lahore Amara Athar, ASP Syeda Shahrabano Naqvi, and social worker Zufshan Anoushe.
The expansion of the “Tahafuz Manzil” project is part of a broader effort to offer social protection and resources to the homeless and those facing difficult circumstances across Punjab. The project aims to continue its work in providing a safe environment and support to those in need.
