Srinagar, Despite the commencement of the new academic session in schools across occupied Jammu and Kashmir three weeks ago, students find themselves in a dire situation as schools continue to face a severe shortage of textbooks.
According to Kashmir Media Service, this shortage has left students and parents in a troubling predicament, with many students lacking essential learning materials.
Government school teachers have revealed that only a fraction of the required textbooks has reached students, significantly hindering their educational progress.
Teachers have highlighted specific instances of textbook shortages across different grade levels, with some classes lacking crucial subjects like Kashmiri, Urdu, Civics, Science, Mathematics, and History. Shockingly, primary class students in grades 1 and 2 have not received any textbooks at all.
The impact of this shortage is particularly acute in government schools, especially as private schools are mandated to adopt BOSE-prescribed textbooks for all classes. However, even private schools are facing challenges as bookstores await deliveries of the required textbooks.
As the academic year progresses, the persistent textbook shortage remains a pressing issue that urgently needs to be addressed to ensure the continuity of education for Kashmiri students.
