Jammu: The Indian National Congress chapter in occupied Jammu and Kashmir organized a protest march in Jammu, denouncing the United States for the alleged mistreatment of over 100 Indians deported by the Trump administration. The group also condemned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government for its perceived silence on the issue.
According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, the protest was spearheaded by Ravinder Sharma and witnessed the participation of numerous IIOJK Congress chapter activists and leaders. Demonstrators marched through the streets of Jammu, voicing disapproval of both the Trump administration’s actions and the Modi government’s response.
Protesters carried banners featuring images of US President Trump and PM Modi, expressing dissatisfaction with the Indian government’s inaction. They accused the US government of treating Indian citizens, who had traveled to the US for employment, as criminals and terrorists.
Ravinder Sharma condemned the treatment by the Trump administration as “the greatest insult, torture and inhumane treatment.” He argued that the entire nation was insulted and hurt by the actions against Indian citizens.
Sharma criticized the Trump administration for what he termed as human rights violations and accused Trump of committing severe infractions against Indians. He questioned India’s response, citing the example of Colombia, which repatriated its citizens with dignity.
Sharma also criticized the Modi government for not addressing the issue, claiming it added to the national insult and humiliation. He linked the plight of the deported Indians to the government’s unfulfilled promise of job creation.
The protest in Jammu reflects broader discontent, with Sharma noting that the Modi government’s perceived inaction has sparked nationwide demonstrations aimed at expressing public resentment.
