Srinagar: Reports have surfaced of Indian troops allegedly killing twenty individuals in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir during the month of July.
According to Kashmir Media Service, of the twenty fatalities, six were the result of what the report characterizes as “fake encounters or in custody” by Indian forces. The actions last month also reportedly left a woman widowed and two children orphaned.
The same report details the arrest of 216 civilians, including prominent Hurriyat leaders, activists, and lawyers such as Mushtaq-ul-Islam and Advocate Nazir Ahmed Roonga, with many detained under stringent legislations like the Public Safety Act (PSA) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Additionally, during 237 cordon and search operations conducted in July, three houses or structures were reportedly damaged.
The report also notes incidents of violence involving Indian police and paramilitary forces, which resulted in injuries to approximately a dozen people within the region.
