Indian police kill one youth, injure several others in IOK

Srinagar, March 15, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, one youth was killed and several others were injured when Indian police opened indiscriminate fire on peaceful protesters in Bandipora district.

Hundreds of people held a protest march outside a camp of Indian Reserve Police in Naidkhai area of the district in support of ailing veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, who was moved to Delhi on Thursday for treatment.

The police resorted to indiscriminate firing to disperse the demonstrators, killing 20-year-old youth, Farhat Ahmad Dar, and injuring eight others. Farhat was sifted to Sub-District Hospital Pattan where doctors declared him brought dead. Block Medical Officer Pattan, Dr Masarrat told media men that the boy had received two bullets on the left side of his chest right on the heart.

A youth, Mohamin Ayub, who was part of the demonstration, said that the police first fired tear gas and then fired straight into the crowds and shot dead a young boy. Later, thousands of people staged massive protest in the area against the cold-blooded murder.

Meanwhile, the puppet authorities have ordered a magisterial probe into the incident. Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr Shah Faisal, told mediamen that a magisterial probe has been ordered into the incident. Syed Ali Gilani’s health had deteriorated since he was placed under house arrest by the Indian authorities almost a year ago.
