Intense Clashes in Punjab as Police Confront Kacha Criminals

Lahore, Punjab Police intensified operations against criminal elements in the Kacha region, following direct orders from Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif to bolster police checkpoints. The move led to violent confrontations, resulting in the deaths of two notorious criminals from the Shar gang and injuries to seven others.

According to Punjab Police, the deceased were involved in several high-profile crimes, including the killings of three policemen in Rahim Yar Khan, as well as numerous murders and kidnappings for ransom. The ongoing exchange of gunfire between police and bandits marks a significant escalation in efforts to secure the region.

The operation, particularly noted for its coordination between Punjab and Sindh Police, aims to dismantle the criminal networks operating across provincial borders. The recent clashes occurred during a broader crackdown following a deadly encounter involving the Shar gang, which had previously led to the deaths of three officers.

DPO Rahim Yar Khan, Rizwan Umar Gondal, is personally supervising the ongoing operations, highlighting the critical nature of restoring law and order in the notoriously lawless Kacha areas. Among those killed in the latest skirmish were Alam Shar and Nazir Shar, both of whom had been identified as major threats to regional security.
