Iranian President Receives Honorary Doctorate During Karachi Visit, Promotes Investment Ties

Karachi, Governor of Sindh Kamran Khan Tesori conferred an honorary doctorate on Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi at a ceremony in Chief Minister’s House, recognizing the deep cultural and economic ties between Iran and Pakistan. The event highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and encourage Iranian investment in Pakistan’s economic sectors.

According to Sindh Governor House, Governor Tesori praised the significance of awarding the honorary degree by the University of Karachi to President Raisi, noting it as an honor for the institution. In his speech, Tesori expressed a desire to fortify the relationship between the two countries, citing his visits to Iranian provinces and meetings with local businessmen and industrialists. He encouraged Iranian investors to capitalize on the favorable investment climate in Karachi and engage with projects like the Sindh Industrial and Trading Estate (SITE).

The ceremony also underscored the commendable role of Iranian diplomats in fostering bilateral relations. Governor Tesori advocated for a more effective investment policy between Iran and Pakistan, which he believes will mutually benefit the economies and improve the quality of life for people in both nations.

The visit began with a warm reception for President Raisi at the airport by Governor Tesori and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, along with other dignitaries including Member of National Assembly Asifa Bhutto Zardari and several provincial ministers. Following the ceremony, President Raisi, accompanied by Governor Tesori and Chief Minister Shah, visited the shrine of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, paying respects to Pakistan’s founding father.
