Islamabad Electric Supply Company Customer Services Centre in G-9 Markaz inaugurated

Islamabad, June 05, 2013 (PPI-OT): Role of power distribution companies is vital for the economy as promotion of trade and industry depends on their good performance. Therefore, these companies should focus on providing best services to their customers to facilitate the growth of business activities and ease the life of common man. This was observed by Mr. Zafar Bakhtawari, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) and Director Board of IESCO while inaugurating a Customer Services Centre of IESCO at G-9 Markaz, Islamabad.

Mr. Mohsin Khalid Chairman and Mr. Tariq Sadiq Director IESCO Board, Malik Yousaf Awan CEO IESCO, Mian Akram Farid former President ICCI, Mr. Mehmood Ahmad Warraich, Senior Vice President ICCI and many other businessmen were present at the occasion.

Mr. Bakhtawari lauded the initiatives of IESCO for expanding the network of its Customer Services Centers in Rawalpindi/Islamabad and said it should open more such Customer Services Centers in other major commercial hubs of Islamabad so that its valued customers could be further facilitated.

He said that in 2001, Pakistan had 4,000 megawatts of excess power capacity, but today the energy crisis has emerged as a big threat to the economy. He urged upon the new government to give top most priority to this issue in its economic agenda.

He said that during election campaign, Mian Nawaz Sharif had vowed that if voted to power, he would conduct an economic explosion during his new term, which was very encouraging. However, he added that without achieving energy security, the dream of economic explosion could never be materialized. Therefore, if the government was serious in improving economy, it should work on war footing basis to tackle the energy problem.

Speaking on the occasion, Malik Yousaf Awan, Chief Executive Officer, Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) said that IESCO was striving hard to provide best services to its customers and inauguration of this Customer Services Center was another step to this direction.

He said customers would get many services from IESCO Customer Services Centers including installments of bills, issuance of duplicate bills, redressal of complaints and many more services under one roof and added that IESCO was the first one to introduce modern technologies to facilitate its valuable customers.

Malik Yousaf Awan said IESCO was the only power distribution company that has brought down its losses to single digit level and it would continue to further improve its performance. He said businessmen were its high revenue generating customers and were playing vital role in improving the local economy.

Therefore, IESCO would try to come up with more innovative services to facilitate them so that they could further expand their businesses and create new jobs. He also vowed to provide maximum assistance to the masses and thanked President ICCI for inaugurating IESCO CS Center.
