Javaid Iqbal Elected Chairman of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Defence Production

Islamabad: In a unanimous decision today at Parliament House, Mr. Javaid Iqbal, MNA, was elected as the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Defence Production during the committee’s meeting.

According to National Assembly of Pakistan, the election process was overseen by Mr. Muhammad Mushtaq, Acting Secretary, along with Syed Jawad Murtaza Naqvi, Additional Secretary (Committees), and Syed Haseen Raza Zaidi, Joint Secretary (Committees). Mr. Asad Alam Niazi proposed Mr. Iqbal’s candidacy, which was seconded by Mr. Ali Zahid. Following this endorsement, Mr. Iqbal was elected without opposition.

The Acting Secretary conveyed congratulations from the leadership of the National Assembly, ensuring Mr. Iqbal of the Secretariat’s full support in his role. In response, Chairman Iqbal expressed his gratitude towards the committee members for their confidence and committed to leading the committee with consensus. The committee members reciprocated with assurances of support for legislative processes. Additionally, Malik Muhammad Aamir Dogar, Chief Whip, extended his congratulations and support to the newly elected Chairman.
