Karachi: Jazz, Pakistan’s leading digital operator, has secured all necessary regulatory approvals to finalize its strategic infrastructure partnership with Engro Corporation Limited. This collaboration aims to streamline telecommunications infrastructure management in Pakistan, aligning with the country’s digital development goals.
The agreement, initially announced in December 2024, involves the transfer of Jazz’s infrastructure assets, managed by its subsidiary Deodar (Private) Limited, to Engro Connect. The transition will occur through a court-sanctioned scheme and has received approvals from the Competition Commission of Pakistan, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, and the Islamabad High Court. The transaction is expected to conclude by June 2025.
Aamir Ibrahim, CEO of Jazz, expressed satisfaction with the partnership’s progress, emphasizing its significance in the company’s transformation. The collaboration with Engro Corporation will enable Jazz to focus on delivering digital solutions across Pakistan, while Engro manages the infrastructure.
Abdul Samad Dawood, CEO of Engro Holdings, highlighted the importance of technology and connectivity in driving progress. He noted that this investment strengthens Engro’s role in supporting Pakistan’s development and underscores the importance of telecom infrastructure.
As the partnership approaches completion, Jazz will continue leasing Deodar’s infrastructure on a long-term basis, ensuring uninterrupted service for its users. The agreement allows Jazz to concentrate on expanding its digital platforms, which currently serve over 100 million Pakistanis.
