Juice Industry Leaders Discuss Tax Concerns with Pakistan’s Minister for Industries

Islamabad, Representatives from major companies in the juice industry met with the Federal Minister for Industries and Production to voice their concerns over recent increases in tariffs and taxes which they claim have significantly hurt their sales and impacted the rural economy.

According to Press Information Department, the meeting included Mr. Waseem Ajmal Chaudary, Secretary of the Ministry of Industries and Production, and executives from Nestle, Shezan, TetraPak, PepsiCo, Haleeb Foods, and Popular Group. The industry leaders presented data indicating a 40 percent decline in juice sales following the recent hikes in Federal Excise Duty (FED) and Goods and Services Tax (GST).

They argued that these tax increases have not only adversely affected their businesses but also the broader rural economy, including fruit growers and industries linked to the juice sector. The Federal Minister expressed the government’s commitment to supporting local industries and enhancing exports. He encouraged the delegation to submit a detailed proposal outlining potential solutions to the challenges faced by the industry, promising to engage with relevant stakeholders to explore feasible resolutions.
