Karachi Mayor Announces Enhanced Fuel Supply System for KMC Service Vehicles

Karachi: Mayor Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, has announced improvements to the fuel supply process for the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) service vehicles, aiming to reduce administrative costs and ensure timely execution of municipal tasks.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the new system, which was implemented in July 2024, has significantly enhanced the efficiency of fuel usage for service vehicles, including those used by the fire brigade and other municipal services. The shift to the PSO fleet card system has allowed for a more transparent and digitized tracking of fuel consumption, resulting in savings of 15,710 liters of fuel in July alone, which translates to a financial saving of Rs 3,761,970.

Mayor Wahab highlighted that the new system replaces the old method of fuel acquisition from designated petrol pumps and addresses past difficulties by allowing service vehicles to refuel at any nearby pump using the fleet card system. This change not only improves the operational capability of KMC’s vehicles but also streamlines the process, making it more convenient and efficient. The mayor also noted that similar improvements are being planned for other departments within KMC to further reduce unnecessary expenditures and enhance the city’s development.
