Karachi Mayor Criticizes MQM Leaders, Defends Legacy of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto

Karachi: In a fervent response to a press conference held by the MQM, Mayor Karachi and Sindh Government Spokesperson Barrister Murtaza Wahab criticized the party’s leadership and lauded the contributions of the late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. Wahab argued that MQM’s critiques do not diminish Bhutto’s enduring influence on Pakistan’s political landscape.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Wahab responded to MQM’s criticisms by highlighting the historical misdeeds attributed to MQM, such as involvement in violence and extortion. He contrasted these with the achievements of Bhutto, including empowering the underprivileged and advancing Pakistan’s nuclear program. Wahab’s comments underline a deep-seated rivalry between the PPP, which heralds Bhutto’s legacy, and MQM, amidst ongoing political tensions in Karachi.

Wahab further asserted that the PPP has consistently upheld merit in public employment, contrary to MQM’s practices, which he claimed jeopardize the rights of Sindh’s citizens. He celebrated Bhutto’s reforms, which he said provided homes for the homeless and land to farmers, cementing Bhutto’s role as a unifier of Islamic countries and a champion for the common man.
