Karachi Mayor Vows Crackdown on Illegal Constructions

Karachi: Mayor Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, has announced a comprehensive effort to bring the city’s activities under legal control, with a particular focus on curbing illegal constructions. The mayor has instructed city officials to enforce municipal regulations strictly and without bias.

According to a statement by Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the Mayor directed the Director of Enforcement and Implementation, Shafiq Shah, to act decisively against illegal structures, while ensuring that compliant constructions, approved by the Sindh Building Control Authority, are not unfairly targeted. The announcement follows recent enforcement actions, including the halting of unauthorized building activities in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.

The mayor stressed that these measures are vital for providing enhanced municipal services and maintaining the city’s aesthetic. He highlighted the detrimental effects of encroachments and urged the public to adhere to approved building plans.
